Research Associate in Catholic Theology and/or Catholic Studies

The Department of Theology and Religion at Durham University invites applications for a one-year Research Associate in Catholic Theology and/or Catholic Studies.

The appointee will have the ability to conduct independent research in any aspect of Catholic theology and/or Catholic studies (nominally 50% of workload). In addition, she/he will play a major role (nominally 50% of workload) in assisting in the academic administration, organisation and delivery of the day-to-day work, academic programmes, projects, and theological outreach activities of the Centre for Catholic Studies (CCS), working in close collaboration with the other CCS staff members, associates, and postgraduate community, and in close co-ordination with the CCS Assistant Director, the CCS Administrator, and the Dean and Director of the CCS.

This is an exciting opportunity for an able, early-career researcher who has recently submitted or is about to submit his/her doctoral dissertation and who has energy and proven gifts for academic administration, organisation, and delivery and who wishes to gain significant experience working within this internationally regarded Centre, situated in the public, secular university, within the UK’s research-leading Department of Theology and Religion (as assessed in the most recent 2008 UK government assessment exercise).
