Responsibilities:
Area of Specialization: We seek a Catholic theologian with an expertise in Catholic Systematic Theology, which might include areas such as Christology, soteriology, ecclesiology, or sacramental theology. We seek an inspiring individual who is at home in the tradition of the liberal arts, who is committed to students, to teaching, to scholarship, and to social justice.

We seek a person who can guide students in the life of the mind and the spirit rather than someone solely interested in preparing students for graduate research. The department focuses on the Catholic Christian tradition in its courses, which are taught from an ecumenical perspective and in the spirit of the Second Vatican Council. We seek a scholar both knowledgeable and respectful of this tradition. Women and traditionally underrepresented scholars are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities include teaching the lower division biblical studies course—TRS 097: “The Bible and Its Interpretation,” and upper division TRS courses in Catholic Systematic Theology. All faculty members periodically teach in the unique January Term and in the Collegiate Seminar “Great Books” Program.

Experience and Qualifications: Ph.D. in hand by August 2013. Preference will be given to candidates with evidence of teaching effectiveness (particularly among undergraduates) and experience teaching biblical studies courses.
