Emily McKay Binns died on March 17, 2008 at the age of 77.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Emily received an MA and a Ph.D. in Theology from the Catholic University of America. She lectured nationally and internationally on the thought of Pierre Teilhard de Cardin, and on his work.
She served as Academic Dean at both Emmanuel College in Boston and Rosemont College in Rosemont, PA before joining the faculty of Theology and Religious Studies at Villanova University where she taught theology for 25 years and also served as the Chair of the Department. A woman of exceptional charm, she is remembered for her masterful teaching and her commitment to social justice.
