Call for Papers:
The Church/Ecumenism Topic Session invites proposals for individual papers and/or panel sessions that treat ecclesiology/ecumenism in light of the 2011 convention theme “All the Saints.” Proposals touching on the convention theme will receive preference, all things being equal, but proposals on other themes are welcome.
Examples of possible questions to explore include (but are not limited to) the following: How does the communion of saints affect an understanding of the Church’s nature and mission? How might one conceive of ecclesial holiness and/or sinfulness in light of the saints? How might a renewed theology of the communion of saints shape our understanding of Lumen gentium, not least its concluding chapters on eschatology and Mary? What might a theology of holiness contribute to a theology of church reform? What contributions might other Christian traditions and confessions make to the convention theme? How have Eastern, Western, Southern, and Northern theologies of the communion of saints shaped their respective ecclesiologies?
Proposals for individual papers and/or entire sessions should be 200-500 words in length and should state clearly the topic to be developed, the rationale and/or hoped-for contribution, and the method or approach to be taken. Proposals for entire sessions may have no more than three presenters and must include the name, institution, and contact information of all participants (moderator, panelists, etc.). Participants should be CTSA members (or in the process of applying for membership), and convention attendees are limited to one speaking role. All submissions need to be accompanied by a 100-word précis to be used in the online convention program posted on CTSA’s website. Note any anticipated needs for A.V. equipment. Please submit proposals to Christopher Ruddy at ruddyc@cua.edu.
The deadline for proposal submission is September 1, 2010, with notification of acceptance by September 24.
