Call for Papers:
The God/Trinity Topic Session invites proposals that address the issue of Trinity and Deification. There has been a resurgence of thought over recent decades regarding both the doctrine of the Trinity and the understanding of salvation as deification. This simultaneous resurgence may not be accidental. Certain theologians see Trinity as the Christian expression of a God-world relation that is one of communion. Clearly deification is also linked to holiness/sanctity finding its embodiment in “all the saints,” our convention theme this year. We invite proposals that explore:
1. The intrinsic interrelation of the doctrine of the Trinity as an expression of the Christian notion of deification.
2. Trinitarian relations as a dynamic structure:
- For sanctity
- For the vocation to be human
- For involvement in ecclesial mission
- For appropriation of the communion of saints
- For the call to holiness
as well as other original ideas on the theme.
Proposals should be between 200-500 words and include the author’s name, institution, and contact information. The deadline for submission is September 1, 2010. Notification of acceptance for presentation will be given by September 24, 2010. A maximum of three papers will be selected for the session. Please articulate in the proposal any audio-visual support required. Authors of accepted papers must submit a 100 word précis by October 6. Recall that CTSA policy limits presenters to one speaking role on the convention program. Please send proposals to gill.goulding@utoronto.ca.
